First day on the job

The Garden is finally under way.  We’ve been working to get permissions for near 5 months and last month we finally got it.  Now we’re ready to get things going but we’re way behind schedule.  Last Friday (3.25.16) was our first work day on-site.  We rented a Skid Steer from Home Depot and finally had a chance to get our hands dirty.. Well Tyler got his hands dirty, I just drove the skid steer all day!  🙂  Don’t get me wrong though, driving that thing was a challenge in itself.

We were able to get a spot cleared out about 40x60ft or so and also cleaned up quite a bit of trash and debris that was covering the property, but there is still a lot of work to be done.  We’ve had some wood chips delivered out to the property for covering the garden floor and creating a walking path around the property.  Find volunteers has been difficult but there have been a few who are committed to helping, my wonderful mother Cindy Carlson for starters.

That’s all I’ve got for now, stay tuned for more updates as they come.  Also remember we are accepting donations and volunteer support at http://church44.org/the-garden
